I’m the designer behind Liberty Fox Web Design, based in the Tacoma–Puyallup area of Pierce County. Most of my clients are here in the South Sound, though I work with businesses across the country.

This started as a hobby. I built sites for friends who needed them — local campaigns, community groups, a photographer I knew. Eventually she told me I should really be charging people, and referred me to two businesses looking for someone. She also mentioned I’d never charged anyone before, which took the pressure off considerably. Those two became my first paying clients in 2016. They’re both still my clients today.

I’ve been building websites since 2008 and working with paying clients since 2016. In that time, exactly one client has moved to another designer — an e-commerce project I told them honestly was outside what I do well. Everyone else has stayed until they closed, sold, or retired.

What I’ve learned over those years is that the build is the easy part. The hard part is what happens after launch, when the specials change, a new person joins the team, and nobody has time to figure out the editor.

So most of my work doesn’t end at launch. I host and maintain the majority of the sites I’ve built, handling updates and content changes so they stay current instead of slowly going stale. Some clients want backend access and get it. Most would rather send me a note and have it done. Either way works.

My clients include a three-location specialty market, a counseling practice, electrical and construction contractors, a downtown business association, a dog training academy, and a home décor shop. Different businesses, same underlying need — a website that works, and that they don’t have to think about.

Outside of work: married to Nick for 25 years, six mostly-grown sons, one dog, a homeschool co-op board seat, and a weakness for thrift stores.
